V1 System
Metalist V1 Overload Protection System.

Key Benefits

bullet Smart (Quick Response Time)
bullet Unique (The ultimate solution to bulky & leaky OEMs)
bullet Completely Closed (No Leaks, No Spills, No Mess!)
bullet Cost Effective (Comparatively Cheap)
bullet Efficient (Tested, Tried & Trusted)
bullet Small (Pocket-Size Components)
bullet Simple (The Essence of Technology is Making Life a Lot Simpler)

The V1 surely spells SUCCESS!!!

The V1 Overload Protection System provides tonnage monitoring, input sensing and physical overload protection. The design also provides a cost effective solution to today's leaky OEM designs

The simplicity and smaller size of Metalist's Electro-Hydraulic Overload System provides a faster reaction time (est. 100 msecs.) without any physical movement of parts or the typical mess and clean up. Furthermore, recharging of the system should take less than 2 minutes combined on a four cylinder press, regardless of OEM press type.

Specifications:

Subsystem 1: Hydraulic Overload System

bullet Analog pressure transducers, PLC triggered hydraulic valves, integrated single reservoir, redundant maximum threshold protection, 4 point monitoring.

Subsystem 2: Integrated PLC

bullet Integration into existing or new Programmable Logic Controllers for real-time press monitoring and overload

Subsystem 3: Real-Time Tonnage & Press Health

bullet Workstation based long term trend analysis, overload condition diagnosis, specific problem positioning and operator touch screen.

Advantages of the Metalist V1 Electro-Hydraulic Overload System™

Reaction times range between 30 and 50 microseconds (1 msec sensor updates in a constant current loop, 20 to 40msec PLC end-to-end throughput, 32 msec complete value reaction time at maximum pressure of 5000 PSI) compared to an approximated 500 microseconds to a full second standard reaction time for existing older technology. For example, in a 1250 Ton Danly™ Press, our system will check for and react to an overload condition from 2 to 6 times, depending on the metal forming operation. This results in a greater degree of press and die protection.

One standard and far simpler cross-OEM overload system capable of installation (retrofits or new enhancement) on most existing metal forming presses. Our system does not require manual adjustment during its life (i.e., no micro-switch adjustments to the standard compression and loss of fluid). This reduces maintenance staff training, regardless of the press brand name.

Completely closed system that does not use an air cylinder, micro-switches, or a constantly running pump. This will increase the size of your pumps, thus reducing replacement costs incurred from year to year.

No moving parts to adjust and fewer plumbing components means fewer leaks and fewer fluid line repairs.

No adjustable values or switches means that constant settings can be maintained in the plant environment, thus providing predictable runtime results.

Four point variable setting overload threshold curves are provided by numeric values in the PLC programming, which can take into account both tonnage and stroke position. This provides detection of double loading and long term die wear problems.

Redundant Pressure Switch maximum threshold protection protects the entire press in case of a total failure of all four individual monitoring channels. By adding to the design of the V1 system a secondary pressure switch, we have added a measure of redundancy and extra protection for your press.

Extreme Vibrational Tolerances exist in the V1 system due to our unique selection of vendor sub-system components. For example, our system's pressure transducers are rated to withstand up to 50 G's of force, thus making them far in excess of any kind of vibration seen in a metal forming plant.

Long term press vital signs monitoring is available both through Metalist's own custom development services or by employing standard existing vendor monitoring systems capable of presenting long term visual trend displays such as tonnage curve variations. This is an ongoing area of research at Metalist International, where we have the advantage of not just being able to produce nice graphs but also 45 years of experience in understanding and interpreting what makes a press break and wear.

Commercial Off-The-Shelf Components are used throughout the design with a unique copyrighted integration provided by Metalist International Inc. of Lansing, Michigan.
